Advocacy/representation

  • providing representation as leading counsel and junior counsel in the Court of Appeal in Shawton Engineering Ltd v DGP [2005]    All ER (D) 24 on the design of a process plant for the handling of nuclear waste at Sellafield

  • acting for the contractor on claims relating to the construction of a power and water desalination plant in the Middle East

  • advising a Middle East State owner in relation to claims arising from an oil treatment and stabilisation plant

  • appearing in litigation relating to a coal liquefaction plant

  • appearing in the Birmingham Technology and Construction Court in a dispute relating to a mineral processing contract

  • advising a nationalised corporation in the Middle East in relation to a dispute arising from the construction of a magnesium oxide plant on the Dead Sea.

Arbitration/Dispute Resolution appointments

  • appointment as sole arbitrator in a Far East ICC arbitration arising from the construction of a chemical plant

  • appointment as arbitrator in a dispute in Scotland relating to an ‘energy from animal waste’ project

  • appointment as member of a tribunal hearing the arbitration of a dispute concerning a combined chemical and power facility in India, and of another tribunal hearing of a process engineering dispute in the UK

  • mediation of a dispute arising from the construction of a ‘waste to energy’ plant in the north east of England.
