Charles Banner QC appointed Deputy Chair of the Joint Nature Conservation Committee

Charles Banner QC has been appointed Deputy Chair of the Joint Nature Conservation Committee (“JNCC”), having been an independent non-executive board member of JNCC since 2017 (originally appointed by the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs).

JNCC is a statutory public body that advises the UK Government and devolved administrations on UK-wide and international nature conservation. It has over 200 staff, and is overseen by the Joint Committee which is comprised of an Independent Chair, 5 Independent Members (including a Deputy Chair) appointed by the Secretary of State, and 2 board members of the statutory conservation bodies in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

The appointment is until December 2023 and is a non-executive part-time role which Charles will hold in conjunction with his full-time practice from Keating Chambers.
