CIArb Scotland “Why Mediations Can Fail”

Date: 5 December 2016

In a presentation to CIArb Scotland, Rosemary Jackson QC considers why some mediations do not conclude in a settlement and why such they should be regarded as a valuable and cost-effective process notwithstanding the absence of a settlement. She examines some of the preparatory steps that may assist, and some of the pitfalls which get in the way of settlement on the day.

Rosemary Jackson QC is in full-time practice as a Mediator, Conciliator, Adjudicator and Arbitrator at Keating Chambers, following a successful practice at the Construction Bar for 30 years. Rosemary has been an accredited mediator since 2001 and has built up a first class reputation as a personable and user-friendly mediator of domestic and international commercial disputes. Her background in construction litigation, combined with good preparation, enables her to identify the issues incisively. Rosemary’s approach is highly commercial.
