Nature of case:

This case, which reached the House of Lords, concerned the effect of a prohibition on assignment without consent, and whether such prohibition might be contrary to public policy.  It also examined the conditions in which the original parties to a contract could enforce contractual terms on behalf of third parties, where the original party had suffered no loss.
