FIDIC AFRICA CONTRACT USERS’ CONFERENCE
Johan Beyers is speaking at the 2018 FIDIC Africa Contract Users’ Conference in Johannesburg at the end of October. The two-day conference provides a guide to successfully using the suite of contracts, managing major projects and resolving disputes in the region.
Johan will be joining two partners from White & Case on a panel to discuss Arbitration & Alternative Dispute Resolution. The session looks at ways to resolve construction disputes if the claims avoidance provisions in FIDIC have not enabled the contracting parties to avoid matters escalating. Specifically, attention is focused on how disputes can be resolved with the greatest efficiency. Alternatives to traditional arbitration proceedings will also be explored, with the aim of equipping the representatives and advisors of the contracting parties to the make the right decisions to move towards a swift and mutually beneficial outcome.
