RICS Legal Issues in Construction Conference

Simon Hughes QC, Justin Mort QC, Abdul Jinadu and Tom Owen will be speaking at the RICS Legal Issues in Construction Conference on Wednesday 8 November 2017.

Simon Hughes QC will examine the interpretation of contracts, including implied terms and rectification, in relation to recent cases.

Justin Mort QC will consider payment notices under the Housing Grants Construction and Regeneration Act 1996 (as amended) and recent developments in the law.

Abdul Jinadu will discuss fraud in adjudication, exploring what is fraud and fraudulent misrepresentation, the circumstances in which fraud is usually alleged, allegations of fraud before the adjudicator and allegations in adjudication enforcement.

Tom Owen will provide a legal update on the latest case law relating to limitation periods, considering the key principles and offering some practical guidance.

Other sessions will include: construction litigation update from the TCC; FIDIC – latest developments and international best practice; NEC4; and design responsibility and design risk.
