Top Ten Bar Moves of 2020

The Lawyer has included Charles Banner QC‘s move to Keating Chambers within their top ten most significant Bar moves of 2020. Charles joined Keating in July 2020, having taken silk in 2019 as the youngest in that year.

The Lawyer describes Charles as “no ordinary barrister” and comment that he is one of the busiest QCs on their Litigation Tracker, “having worked on a total of 41 concluded cases since 2015“. They also note his work on high-profile judicial reviews including working on the HS2 and Stansted Airport expansion projects.

Charles’ recent work since joining Keating has included:

  • Appearing pro bono on behalf of the AIRE Centre in a Court of Appeal case concerning Appendix EU to the Immigration Rules;
  • Acting for the successful appellant in the first planning appeal inquiry to consider an electric car charging facility; and
  • Appearing as a Judge in the first hearing of the Astana International Finance Centre Court in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan.

He is also founder and one of the panellists of the popular webinar series “Have We Got Planning News For You” which has been running since April 2020 and features special guests from the most influential ranks of the Planning World.
