Lars has a busy practice specialising in Keating’s core practice areas of construction and engineering, infrastructure, energy, PFI projects, arbitration, and technology. He provides advice, drafting and representation at all stages of litigation and ADR.
He has recently been instructed:
As sole counsel in the High Court (TCC) to resist an application for specific disclosure by a main contractor.
As sole counsel in the High Court (TCC) to seek enforcement of an adjudicator’s decision.
As part of the counsel team led by Simon Hughes KC in a £400m ICC arbitration concerning waste management infrastructure in Qatar.
As sole counsel to defend a claim against a main contractor in the High Court (TCC) concerning a new-build house warranty.
To advise an architectural practice in relation to novel duties owed by principal designers under the Building Regulations.
Lars is experienced in both bespoke commercial contracts, as well as modified and unmodified standard form construction contracts, including JCT and NEC forms.
He is a contributor to Keating on Construction Contracts, and was the winner of the Society for Construction Law’s 2022 SCL Hudson Prize for his paper on recent developments in the law relating to building safety and the Defective Premises Act of 1972.
A former in-house lawyer, Lars worked as in-house counsel at a market-leading fintech startup based in London before joining Keating.
Appeared as sole counsel for a main contractor to resist an application for specific disclosure in the High Court (TCC).
Instructed to appear at trial for the claimant telecoms provider in a breach of contract dispute in the Birmingham County Court.
Drafted the Defence for a housebuilder in a High Court (TCC) claim relating to a new-build house warranty.
Drafted the Defence for an architect in a High Court (TCC) claim relating to subsidence at a residential development.
Drafted Particulars of Claim on behalf of the claimant contractor in a dispute concerning non-payment for varied works.
Advised and drafted Particulars of Claim on behalf of the claimant homeowners in a dispute concerning defective works and the contractor’s failure to remove equipment following termination of contract.
Drafted Particulars of Claim on behalf of the claimant contractor in a dispute relating to sums owed on a re-valuation of renovation works.
Lars has recent experience of end-of-term PFI disputes, having been instructed as part of the counsel team led by Piers Stansfield KC in a multi-million-pound adjudication arising from a PFI contract in the healthcare sector.

Lars is also frequently instructed on insolvency matters, appearing in court regularly in applications for injunctions to restrain winding-up petitions, and is currently acting for a main contractor in a retention of title dispute between an employer and an M&E supplier concerning mechanical plant delivered to a sub-contractor in liquidation.
