In this issue, we are pleased to bring you an overview of some of the recent developments in the legal landscape. This includes an article on ‘When Does a Public Loan Amount to an Unlawful Subsidy?’ by Simon Taylor and Courtney Burrell-Eade, an update on Prospective Issues In PFI / PPP from Sean Wilken KC, an article by one of our Practice Managers, Rosina Thomas, on ‘How the Role in Chambers has Changed and Where it Will Go’.
As usual, we have included a summary of the most recent case updates involving members of chambers. We are also delighted to bring you a Q&A with Connie Trendle, one of our newest tenants after successfully completing her pupillage at Keating.
This year we celebrated remarkable female-led achievements across the profession. Highlights include the appointment of our first female Head of Chambers, Sarah Hannaford KC, who earned multiple accolades including Public Procurement Lawyer of the Year. Rosemary Jackson KC was honoured by the Society of Construction Law, while Lucy Garrett KC, Rachael O’Hagan and Jennie Wild received prestigious award nominations. Alexandra Bodnar and Mercy Milgo joined the Technology and Construction Bar Association Executive Committee, and we welcomed Courtney Burrell-Eade and Connie Trendle as new tenants. Alison Crosland was also shortlisted for Chambers Leader of the Year. These milestones reflect the growing influence of women in our field.
We were also proud to be named “Arbitrators Set of the Year” at The Legal 500 Bar Awards and “Construction Set of the Year” at the Chambers and Partners UK Bar Awards. In the Legal 500 UK Bar Guide 2026 we achieved six set rankings, including four in Tier 1, and 137 individual rankings. In Chambers and Partners UK Bar Guide 2026, we secured 117 rankings, with 56 members recognised across five practice areas, maintaining Band 1 for Construction, International Arbitration: Construction/Engineering, and Construction: Professional Negligence.
We hope you find this edition informative and engaging.
