Planning appeal decision against the decision of Bath & North East Somerset Council

Citation: Appeal Ref: APP/F0114/W/22/3300847

Planning Inspector Nicola Davies allowed two appeals by Crossman Group against the refusal by Bath & North East Somerset Council of planning permission for the redevelopment of Frome House, Lower Bristol Road, Bath Spa, from office use to 66 student bedspaces. Costs were also awarded to Crossman.

The main issues concerned the loss of office floorspace, the need for purpose-built student accommodation, the effect on the character and appearance of the area (including on two nearby listed buildings and the City of Bath World Heritage Site) and the effect on residential amenity of nearby properties.

Charles Banner KC acted for the Appellant.
